Walker Kessler, the Lakers' significant free agency acquisition, has been medically cleared following shoulder surgery and expressed his commitment, stating he will "run through a brick wall" for the team. The 7-foot-2 center, acquired via a sign-and-trade with the Utah Jazz, signed a four-year, $130 million contract. The Lakers invested heavily, trading two unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps to secure Kessler.

"With what [the Lakers] have invested, they're showing that belief, in a monetary value," Kessler said. "Not just with money, but in [draft] assets. If I know they have that belief in me, I'm going to run through a brick wall for them." He is eager to play alongside Luka Doncic, aiming to provide a strong defensive presence and a target at the basket. Kessler averaged 14.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks last season before undergoing surgery.

The Lakers have been active, re-signing Austin Reaves and adding Sandro Mamukelashvili and Collin Sexton, while LeBron James and others departed. Mamukelashvili, who averaged 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds for the Toronto Raptors, sees playing in Los Angeles as "the biggest stage." Sexton, who averaged 15.4 points last season, aims to emulate Marcus Smart's impact on defense.
