Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves is set to embrace a new era for the franchise following the departure of LeBron James. Reaves recently signed a four-year, $180 million deal, reportedly the most lucrative contract in NBA history for an undrafted player. He acknowledged that starting the season without James, "all I've ever known," will be different.

The new contract provides the Lakers with financial flexibility to pursue additional players next summer. Reaves will be expected to take on a larger leadership role alongside Luka Doncic, whom he considers a close friend. Reaves was also recently seen competing in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament.

Reaves expressed excitement about the new additions to the team, including Walker Kessler, Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton, and Sandro Mamukelashvili. These players, along with Reaves, will aim to fill the production void left by James and other former Lakers like Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton. Reaves reiterated his desire to remain a Laker, stating, "My heart was in L.A. the whole time."
