Austin Reaves has agreed to a four‑year, $185 million maximum extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, adding a player option for the 2029‑30 season. He turned down a $14.9 million player option to secure the deal, which becomes the richest contract ever for an undrafted player. The agreement was brokered by agents Aaron Reilly and Reggie Berry after ten days of talks.

Reaves will earn 41.3 million in the first season, with the contract structured to fit the Lakers’ projected cap space, which already includes a $20.9 million hold on him. The deal does not curtail the team’s summer flexibility, as he signs after the franchise exhausts its available room. His 2025‑26 stats—23.3 points, 5.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds—came despite missing 31 games with calf and oblique injuries.

General manager Rob Pelinka said Reaves’ return was a priority, emphasizing the guard’s desire to continue his “odyssey” in purple and gold. Reaves rebounded in the playoffs, posting 20.0 points and 5.8 assists over six games before Los Angeles fell to Oklahoma City in the second round. The extension locks a homegrown talent into the Lakers’ core.
