Rodas rejected simple flag colorways, instead weaving a cohesive narrative around bayanihan, the Filipino value of communal unity. He translated this through the banig, a traditional woven mat: fragile strands become strong when interlaced. The banig pattern appears on the Magpakitang Gilas lateral side, symbolizing walls, and on the Tibay Ng Lahi insole, mimicking the floor — two halves of one home.

The designs resonated globally. Non-Filipinos admired the aesthetic; diaspora communities recognized home.
