Jeanie Buss asks court to block siblings' vote to sell Lakers shares - ESPN

Los Angeles Lakers controlling owner Jeanie Buss filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court to block her five siblings' vote to sell the family trust's remaining shares, arguing it would violate the trust’s intent to retain control and benefit from the franchise’s rising value. She also seeks to remove Janie and Joey Buss as co‑trustees for breaching fiduciary duty, noting minority owners Dr. Patrick Soon‑Shiong and Ed Roski support her stance. Buss’s attorney, Adam Streisand, says the siblings’ vote was a calculated effort to create a fait accompli before she could respond, citing a $12.5 billion valuation deal between majority owner Mark Walter, Josh Kushner and Bob Iger.

The siblings claim tag‑along rights allow them to sell with only four of six siblings and two of three co‑trustees, while Buss contends those rights are not yet applicable because Walter has not formally notified the trust of the agreement. The dispute stems from a 2017 court order that appointed Jeanie Buss as the controlling owner and tasked the co‑trustees with preserving that role.
