San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie will sign a three-year, $45 million contract extension that runs through 2028-29, sources confirmed Monday. The team declined his $3 million team option to negotiate this new deal. Champagnie's representatives finalized terms with Spurs executives on his 25th birthday, locking up the versatile forward who anchored the wing rotation around Victor Wembanyama.

Champagnie delivered career-best numbers across the board this past season, averaging 27.6 minutes, 11.1 points, and 5.8 rebounds while appearing in all 82 games. He knocked down 195 three-pointers, setting a Spurs single-season franchise record. The 6-foot-7 sharpshooter has started 156 games for San Antonio over three seasons, providing floor spacing and veteran leadership alongside the team's young core.

Champagnie entered the league undrafted from St. John's in 2022, initially signing a two-way deal with Philadelphia before the 76ers waived him in 2023. San Antonio claimed him two days later, and he has since become a reliable rotation piece. The contract structure includes $42 million in new money while preserving some roster flexibility for the Spurs organization.

This extension solidifies San Antonio's wing depth as they continue building around Wembanyama. Champagnie's shooting and durability make him a valuable complementary piece for a Spurs team looking to take the next step in their rebuild.
