Victor Wembanyama is hosting eight to 10 San Antonio Spurs teammates in France for workouts this week. The initiative, revealed by Spurs CEO R.C. Buford, aims to help the team rebound after their NBA Finals loss. Rising second-year guard Dylan Harper is among those participating, having already trained with Wembanyama at NBA Summer House in Paris.

Buford highlighted Wembanyama's evolving leadership, noting that the young star actively invited his teammates to France. This marks Wembanyama's third trip to France since early July. In his three seasons, Wembanyama has achieved significant milestones, including two All-Star selections and becoming the first unanimous NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2025-26, alongside first-team All-NBA honors. Despite previous injury concerns, he played 64 games this season, averaging career highs in points (25.0) and rebounds (11.5).

Buford emphasized Wembanyama's unique leadership style, stating he doesn't try to be anyone but himself and sets a strong example through his dedication to training, body care, and connecting with others. The willingness of multiple teammates to travel internationally for workouts underscores the respect and admiration they have for Wembanyama. His offseason also included training sessions with NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon and workouts hosted by point guard De'Aaron Fox. Wembanyama recently signed a five-year, $252 million rookie scale extension with the Spurs and a shoe deal with Nike.
