Nets' Porter Jr. Out 2-3 Weeks with Hamstring Strain

Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. will miss at least two weeks with a strained left hamstring, potentially ending his breakout season. The team announced Thursday that Porter will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks, with the NBA regular season concluding in just over three weeks.

Porter had already missed three games due to a sprained right ankle before this latest injury. An MRI exam Wednesday confirmed the hamstring strain. The timing raises questions about whether the Nets will rush him back, given their current position in the standings.

The Nets have lost five straight games and hold the third-worst record in the league at 17-52. This puts them in prime position for the NBA draft lottery, providing little incentive to hurry Porter's return. The 27-year-old is enjoying a career season, averaging 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in his first year with Brooklyn after joining from Denver's 2023 championship team.
