Luka Doncic received a one-game suspension for accumulating his 16th technical foul, the NBA announced. The punishment, which costs him approximately $264,000 (1/174th of his annual salary), will be served Monday against the Washington Wizards. The suspension follows a physical altercation with Nets forward Ziaire Williams during Friday’s game, where both players were ejected after a heated exchange over an offensive foul.

A replay showed Doncic pushing Williams, prompting retaliation. The NBA initially assigned double technicals to both players, but Doncic’s prior tech against the Orlando Magic was later rescinded after a Lakers appeal. If Doncic receives two more technicals before the season ends, his penalty will escalate to 1/145th of his salary, or $317,000. Despite the suspension, Doncic remains a dominant force, averaging 39.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in his past 12 games.

With seven games remaining, his ability to avoid further infractions could determine the Lakers’ playoff seeding.
