Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has been fined $50,000 by the NBA for making an inappropriate money gesture toward official Tre Maddox during Sunday's 110-97 victory over the New York Knicks. The fine was announced Tuesday, with the league citing Doncic's unprofessional conduct during the third quarter.

The incident occurred with 4:35 remaining in the third quarter when Doncic attempted to draw a charge on Knicks forward Mohamed Diawara but was called for a blocking foul instead. While on the floor after contact, Doncic rubbed his fingers together in a money gesture while looking directly at Maddox. The fine represents approximately 0.109% of Doncic's $46 million salary this season.

This marks another confrontation between Doncic and league officials, as he has accumulated 15 technical fouls in 52 games this season. A 16th technical foul would result in a one-game suspension. The Lakers, currently 39-25, host the Minnesota Timberwolves (40-24) on Tuesday night.
