Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jesus Sánchez left Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles after a ball thrown from the right-field bleachers bruised his right wrist. The incident occurred in the sixth inning during a stoppage in play, as the team fell 9-5. Sánchez was struck when he looked toward fans who apparently misunderstood his gesture as an invitation to play catch.

The ball came from a youngster that Sánchez was interacting with in what he described as playful banter. 'I just looked at them, and they thought maybe that I want them to throw the ball,' he explained through an interpreter. Blue Jays manager John Schneider confirmed the child was likely around 12 years old and took the invitation literally, creating an unfortunate misunderstanding.

X-rays following the game came back negative, showing no fracture. Sánchez wore a bandage on his wrist but expressed confidence he wouldn't miss significant time. 'It hurts a little bit, but thank God it's nothing bad,' he said. The Orioles identified and removed the fan while launching an investigation into the incident.

While the injury appears minor, any missed time disrupts Toronto's lineup as they navigate their season. Sánchez has been working to establish himself as a regular contributor, making his health important for the Blue Jays' offensive plans.
