The 2026 MLB trade deadline has passed, and analysis is underway regarding the biggest winners and losers of the deals. Some teams made strong postseason pushes with their deadline acquisitions, while others swung and missed on their opportunities. The New York Yankees entered the deadline with some question marks and left without making a splashy move. The designated hitter Marcell Ozuna, who was hitting just .203 with eight home runs, has been released by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Prospect Updates and Player Debuts

Cleveland's top infielder Angel Genao has been called up by the Guardians. Genao is currently hitting .309 at Triple-A Columbus. George Lombard Jr. became the third-youngest Yankee to homer in his first professional game, achieving this feat on a night his younger brother also hit a home run in his own debut. The acquired catcher Adley Rutschman expressed that he is trying to fit in with a red-hot Red Sox team that has been on a roll over the last month. Kevin Gausman who is expected to make his Cubs debut on Friday, stated he is happy to be in Chicago.

Injury Concerns and Player Relations

Padres RHP Pivetta exited his first rehab outing Tuesday with what San Diego manager Craig Stammen described as minor tightness in his right elbow. The Dodgers catcher Rushing has a slight tear in the UCL of his right elbow, according to follow-up testing. Multiple sources told ESPN that former Mets pitcher Freddy Peralta arranged a meeting in June for franchise cornerstones Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor to discuss and work through their disconnected relationship. The two-time Cy Award winner Tarik Skubal didn't have his best stuff in his Los Angeles debut, landing only 51 strikes on 85 pitches, but the Dodgers also offered little run support in the game.
