The San Francisco Giants have suspended payment to outfielder Harrison Bader after he aggravated a left foot injury during a scooter accident. Detroit Tigers promoted highly regarded outfield prospect Max Clark from the minor leagues. The Tigers also scratched pitcher Casey Mize from his scheduled start as the team heads into its final series before the trade deadline. Mariners third baseman J.P. Crawford was placed on the 10-day injured list due to left wrist inflammation.

Trade Deadline Activity and Contract Extensions

The New York Mets initiated trade activity by sending left-handed relief pitcher A.J. Minter to the Minnesota Twins. The Mets received prospects Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick in the deal, which may be the first of several for the last-place team. Meanwhile, Baltimore Orioles secured a key member of their bullpen by signing right-handed reliever Yennier Cano to a two-year contract extension.
