Baltimore Orioles and reliever Yennier Cano agreed to a $7.5 million, two‑year contract covering the 2027 and 2028 seasons, including a $10 million club option for 2029. Cano had signed a $1.6 million, one‑year deal in January. The new deal pays $2.75 million in 2027 and $4.75 million in 2028, with the option potentially rising by $3 million based on games finished in 2028.

Orioles president Mike Elias praised Cano, saying he has been outstanding on and off the field since his 2022 arrival and has become one of the league’s most reliable relief pitchers.

The 32‑year‑old Cuban right‑hander posts a 2.21 ERA with one save in 48 appearances this season, and was an All‑Star in 2023 after posting a 2.11 ERA in 72 outings. His career line is 11‑17 with a 3.78 ERA and 16 saves, largely accumulated with Baltimore.

The extension fits a recent trend of signing existing roster players to multi‑year deals since owner David Rubenstein took over in 2024, following deals for Kyle Bradish, Samuel Basallo and Shane Baz.
