ATL Partners has formed Precise Aerospace & Defense, a provider of highly complex components and sub-systems for the aerospace, defense and space end-markets, PE Hub can reveal. The New York-based lower mid-market firm, which focuses on aerospace, national security, and transportation and logistics, also announced the platform's inaugural acquisition: Precise Metal Products, a provider of airflow management services for engine system, auxiliary power unit and environmental control system applications, acquired from affiliates of Staple Street Capital.
The deal comes as interest in the aerospace and defense sector grows. The sector saw record-breaking investment in 2025, and record-high backlogs and strong market tailwinds are driving exceptional growth across the supply chain.
Michael Kramer, a partner at ATL Partners, said the platform builds on a thesis the firm has held for years. The goal is to form a company that supplies mission-critical complex components to high-growth programs, using advanced manufacturing techniques to produce the most challenging parts in the supply chain. After evaluating hundreds of opportunities, the firm found what it considered a strong team and company to start from in PMP.
PMP's vertical integration across engineering, manufacturing, assembly and secondary processing allows it to take a part from engineering support to a finished, qualified assembly under one roof. Its products are qualified onto long-lived narrow-body, wide-body and defense programs. CEO Steve Bangerter and his team have built a culture of operational excellence, which ATL sees as the foundation of the platform. Precise A&D plans to grow organically by investing in capacity, equipment and people, and through disciplined acquisitions of highly technical, complex suppliers.
