T‑Mobile expands satellite service to Canada and New Zealand

T‑Mobile has added Starlink‑backed satellite roaming for its customers traveling in Canada and New Zealand. The new coverage relies on Rogers Satellite in Canada and One NZ in New Zealand, both of which already partner with SpaceX. Existing roaming agreements remain, but users can now fall back to satellite when cellular networks drop out.

The service, first launched in July 2025 for the continental U.S., Puerto Rico, Hawaii and southern Alaska, now appears on T‑Mobile’s coverage map alongside the new international zones. Rogers and One NZ subscribers also gain reciprocal access when they visit the United States, creating a two‑way satellite bridge across the Pacific.

T‑Mobile bundles the feature in its Experience Beyond plans and charges $10 per line on other plans; non‑customers can subscribe for the same fee. Compatibility starts with iPhone 13 and later, and the system activates automatically when no Wi‑Fi or cellular signal is present, eliminating the need to point the phone skyward like Apple’s native option. This rollout gives travelers a reliable backup without extra hardware.
