T-Mobile CEO Srini Gopalan downplayed concerns about satellite providers like Starlink entering the mobile market, questioning what consumer problems they would solve. His comments came as SpaceX confirmed plans to launch a US mobile service by 2027, with president Gwynne Shotwell anticipating customer gains from AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

Gopalan argued satellite technology remains complementary to existing networks, noting SpaceX already provides satellite access to T-Mobile for rural coverage. He declined to comment on merger speculation with Deutsche Telekom valued at $267bn, stating the company doesn't engage with rumors.

The CEO emphasized T-Mobile's growth potential, highlighting expansion from 66.6mn to 85.6mn post-paid customers since the 2020 Sprint merger. Despite a 25% share decline over the past year, Gopalan believes the company is undervalued and aims to double broadband customers to 20mn within four years.

Analyst David Barden from New Street Research praised T-Mobile's mobile broadband positioning, suggesting significant growth runway remains despite increased competition from rivals.
