Nvidia steps into the PC silicon arena with its RTX Spark Superchip, positioning it as the most efficient chip yet. Jensen Huang unveiled the unit at Computex in Taipei, flagging a direct challenge to Apple’s M5. The board couples a Blackwell GPU with a Grace CPU, mirroring the DGX Spark design.

RTX Spark promises to run AI agents that operate across apps as background teammates. It claims users can render 90GB 3D scenes with OptiX and DLSS, edit 12K 4:2:2 video via the Blackwell decoder, and play AAA titles at 1440p over 100 fps with ray tracing, DLSS and Reflex.

Microsoft’s 15‑inch Surface Laptop Ultra will be among the first devices to ship the chip, featuring a mini‑LED display, the largest haptic touchpad on a Surface, and a broad port selection. Configured with up to 128GB unified memory, the Ultra can run 120‑billion‑parameter models locally, a figure Microsoft cites from Nvidia.

Nvidia estimates the RTX Spark will appear in roughly 30 laptops and over 10 desktops, targeting premium segments. Microsoft plans to release the Surface Laptop Ultra later this year, with pricing undisclosed. The move signals Nvidia’s intent to compete directly with Apple’s silicon strategy and reshape the high‑performance PC market.
