macOS Tahoe Finder Bug Reveals Apple's Declining UI Quality

Apple's macOS Tahoe continues to struggle with a Finder interface bug that has persisted through two updates since its September release. The issue, which affects users who work in column view with scroll bars set to always show, involves a horizontal scroll bar that overlaps and blocks column resize handles, making it impossible to adjust column widths as users could in earlier macOS versions like Sequoia.

Developer Jeff Johnson has been tracking this Liquid Glass redesign flaw on his blog, noting that while Apple attempted a fix in macOS 26.3 by shortening vertical scrollers, the horizontal bar still obscures file names and creates awkward empty space when path and status bars are hidden. John Gruber of Daring Fireball called the ongoing issues "an embarrassing fudge for a company that used to pride itself on pixel-perfect settings across its Mac operating system."

The persistent nature of this bug, despite multiple updates, has sparked user complaints about Apple's declining UI polish. While macOS Tahoe 26.4 is expected in March or April with potential Siri feature additions and new emoji characters, the Finder column view problems highlight growing concerns about Apple's attention to detail in its operating system design.
