Apple is developing a high-end MacBook Pro variant that could launch as the "MacBook Ultra," featuring the first OLED display ever in a Mac. The device would also introduce touchscreen capabilities to macOS, allowing finger input alongside traditional trackpad navigation. This represents a significant shift in Apple's laptop strategy, bridging the gap between iPad interaction and desktop computing.

The MacBook Ultra may adopt a Dynamic Island instead of the current notch design, unifying the visual language across iPhone and Mac with upcoming software updates. Apple could also slim down the chassis design, which hasn't changed substantially since the 2021 transition to Apple silicon. Available in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations, the OLED panel would deliver deeper blacks and better HDR performance compared to existing mini-LED displays, though peak brightness might trail behind current models.
