Apple's MacBook Pro is set to receive a major upgrade with an OLED display by early next year, according to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The new model, expected between late 2026 and early 2027, will feature significant improvements over current LCD and mini-LED models.

OLED technology will deliver more vivid colors, higher contrast ratios, and wider viewing angles while potentially improving power efficiency. The next-generation MacBook Pro will also include a thinner design, touch screen functionality, a Dynamic Island, and M6 Pro and M6 Max chips built on TSMC's 2nm process. Apple is reportedly considering adding cellular connectivity through its C1X or C2 modem.

With these premium features, the OLED MacBook Pro could be positioned as a new "MacBook Ultra" above the current Pro lineup in terms of pricing and performance. While Apple recently launched M5 Pro and M5 Max models, Kuo suggests waiting for these more substantial upgrades. The last major MacBook Pro redesign occurred in 2021, making this refresh particularly significant for users seeking cutting-edge performance and display technology.
