Apple's OLED Touchscreen MacBook Pro Set for 2027 Refresh

Apple is gearing up for a very major MacBook Pro redesign that would add an OLED touchscreen and a new hinge mechanism. Rumors place the launch in late 2026 or early 2027, with some leakers dubbing the device the “MacBook Ultra.” The shift would mark the first time Apple ships a touchscreen laptop in its core lineup.

The concept isn’t new; Apple filed touchscreen patents as early as 2010 and Samsung was reportedly slated to produce OLED panels for the MacBook Pro in 2019. Analysts have bounced between 2025, 2026 and 2027 dates, while still internal identifiers K114 and K116 suggest the upcoming models will run on M5 Pro and M5 Max silicon and feature a hole‑punch camera.

If definitely Apple follows through, a touch‑enabled MacBook Pro could reshape professional workflows by letting users interact directly with macOS and Sidecar tools. A reinforced hinge would address display bounce concerns, while the punch‑hole camera aligns with the AI‑driven Siri features slated for macOS Golden Gate. In short, Apple appears set to ship the OLED MacBook Pro between late 2026 and early 2027.
