iPhone Fold: Display Crease, Camera Setup, and OS Details Revealed

Apple's upcoming iPhone Fold has seen major details emerge this week, with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman providing clarity on several key features. The foldable device, expected to launch in September, will feature a 7.8-inch inner display and 5.5-inch outer display with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

One of the most significant revelations concerns the display crease. Early reports had suggested Apple had achieved a virtually crease-free panel, but Gurman now says the technology reduces but doesn't eliminate the crease entirely. The device will run iOS rather than iPadOS, with an iPad-like interface when unfolded that supports two-app multitasking but lacks the full iPadOS feature set.

Camera configurations have also been clarified. Both displays will use hole-punch cutouts instead of under-display technology, which Apple reportedly abandoned due to inferior image quality. The outer display will maintain a Dynamic Island interface despite the smaller cutout. Storage options will include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities, with the top-tier model potentially costing nearly $3,000. The device will feature 12GB of RAM, matching the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, with Samsung supplying the memory at higher-than-usual prices amid global supply constraints.
