Apple's upcoming iPhone Fold is rumored to launch later this year with a significantly larger inner display sporting a 4:3 aspect ratio, enabling iPad-like layouts and side-by-side app multitasking. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the foldable will introduce iOS improvements inspired by iPadOS, allowing users to arrange apps in a tablet-style sidebar. However, the device will not support windowed multitasking or run iPad applications, maintaining its core iOS foundation with simpler multitasking elements than the full iPadOS experience.

The inner screen is expected to be roughly the size of an iPad mini, prompting Apple to develop new iOS app layouts specifically for this form factor. The foldable is also said to incorporate advanced display technology aimed at drastically reducing the screen crease while improving durability, alongside a hole-punch camera on the cover display and Touch ID integrated into the power button.
