iPhone Fold's iPad-like multitasking revealed

Apple is reportedly redesigning iOS multitasking specifically for the iPhone Fold, introducing a left-side sidebar and side-by-side app views that mirror the iPad experience. The foldable device, expected to debut in late 2026, will allegedly offer a tablet-like interface when unfolded, though it will run iOS rather than iPadOS. This means users won't get iPadOS 26's windowed multitasking system.

Instead, Apple plans to adapt iOS with in-app sidebars positioned on the left side of the screen and enhanced multitasking capabilities. The iPhone Fold is rumored to resemble an iPad mini when opened, with a wide aspect ratio designed to make video watching more appealing. These multitasking improvements are part of Apple's strategy to justify the device's premium price tag, which is expected to exceed $2000.

The hardware rumors remain consistent with earlier reports: the device will feature Touch ID integrated into the side button, two rear cameras, and a hole-punch front camera cutout. The Dynamic Island will reportedly remain despite the absence of Face ID, which Apple allegedly couldn't incorporate due to the device's thin design. While the multitasking details offer new insight into Apple's foldable strategy, most other specifications align with previously reported information.
