iPhone 18 Pro: 10 Upgrades Worth Waiting For

Apple's iPhone 18 Pro lineup is shaping up to be a significant upgrade over the iPhone 17 Pro, with major changes to design, performance, and camera capabilities. The new models are expected to feature a 2nm A20 Pro chip, variable aperture cameras, and a smaller Dynamic Island or even under-display Face ID. Apple is also planning a two-phase release strategy, with Pro models launching in September 2026 and standard models arriving in spring 2027.

Design changes include a more seamless rear casing, dropping the two-tone look, and a slightly thicker chassis to accommodate a larger 5,100-5,200 mAh battery. The iPhone 18 Pro Max could become Apple's heaviest model yet at around 243 grams. Apple is also reportedly testing three new colors: burgundy, brown, and purple, marking the first time Pro models will be available in shades of red or brown.

The camera system will see significant upgrades, including a Samsung-made three-layer stacked image sensor and variable aperture technology, allowing users to manually adjust depth of field like on a DSLR. The new C2 modem will replace Qualcomm components, bringing mmWave 5G support to the US. Perhaps most notably, Apple plans to add 5G satellite internet support, enabling full internet connectivity through satellites rather than just emergency features.
