iOS 27 Compact Clock: How to Use the New Feature

In iOS 27, Apple has introduced a new compact clock mode that does the opposite of the oversized clocks seen in previous versions. This mode shrinks the time to roughly the size of the date and tucks it into the top row of the screen, allowing your wallpaper to be seen unimpeded.

To switch, touch and hold the Lock Screen and tap Customize. Inside the Font & Color panel, tap the icon made of two horizontal bars in the top-right corner. This immediately moves the clock beside the date. You can still adjust font, weight, and color, though the Liquid Glass slider is unavailable in this mode.

This setting applies to individual Lock Screens rather than being a global setting, meaning you can use different styles for different Focus modes. iOS 27 is currently in public beta, with general availability expected in September.
