Apple released watchOS 27.2 beta 2 for developers this week, continuing the rollout following beta 1. The update brings back the App Switcher feature removed in watchOS 27. Longtime users had complained about the loss of the Digital Crown double-click gesture.

In this beta, Apple replaced the old shortcut with a new gesture: pressing and holding the bottom of the screen while inside an app. This method, spotted by the Apple Den Discord server and shared by user Bones on X, activates the App Switcher interface. Once open, users can turn the Digital Crown to scroll through recently used apps or swipe left to close individual apps.
