iOS 27 Slates Liquid Glass Slider and Minor UI Tweaks

Apple is set to reveal iOS 27 on June 8, and early leaks hint at two major tweaks to the company’s signature Liquid Glass aesthetic. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says a new system‑wide slider will let users fine‑tune transparency and contrast, a feature that proved engineeringly tough to ship in iOS 26. The change could reshape how the glass effect looks across the OS.

Current options in Settings→Display & Brightness offer only a Clear or Tinted style, with the latter mimicking iOS 18’s darker look. Gurman notes Apple had tested the slider on the lock‑screen clock but ran into hurdles expanding it to app folders, the home screen, and navigation bars. A fully functional slider would give users granular control for the first time.

Beyond the slider, Gurman reports the Liquid Glass design will receive subtle interface tweaks, not a wholesale overhaul. He compares the expected refinements to the gradual post‑iOS 7 improvements that followed a bold debut. Critics argue that certain elements—like the shrinking MiniPlayer in Music and Podcasts—feel regressive, and a setting to lock the navigation bar could appease fans. Users will appreciate the added flexibility immediately and a smoother experience.
