HomePod mini 2 goes on sale today at $149 in the U.S., adding two‑tone pink, green, and blue finishes alongside white and midnight. Pre‑orders are arriving and Apple Store locations worldwide now stock the speaker.
Hardware upgrades include the S10 chip (replacing the S5), Wi‑Fi 6E (up from Wi‑Fi 4), Bluetooth 6 (up from Bluetooth 5), three microphones (down from four), and a 3% weight reduction. Apple says the S10 enables "advanced computational audio" but hasn't confirmed a sound‑quality improvement.
Software features rolling out now: Sound Glow (top surface pulses with music), default audio output on Macs with Wi‑Fi 6E, and four‑speaker surround sound when paired with the new Apple TV 4K. Siri AI support will arrive in a future update, requiring an Apple Intelligence‑enabled iPhone or iPad for personal‑context requests.
The original HomePod mini launched at $99, rose to $129 in June, and now the second generation carries a $149 price tag.
