Apple has released HomePod software 27.2, introducing the Sound Glow visual feature that pulses the top of HomePod and HomePod mini in sync with music, podcasts, and ambient audio. The update draws colors from album artwork and works across supported devices, including the upcoming HomePod mini 2. Additionally, the software enables HomePods as the default speaker for Mac, supports four-speaker surround sound with Apple TV 4K (4th generation), and adds a Lock Controls option to disable touch interactions.
The update also includes enhancements to Apple Music, Podcasts, and AirPlay on tvOS, along with bug fixes and security updates. HomePod mini 2 launches October 30, and the new Apple TV 4K arrives November 13.
