Apple today released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, the first major updates to the iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 operating systems launched in September. iOS 27.2 supports all iPhones capable of running iOS 27, including the iPhone Duo, while iPadOS 27.2 covers all compatible iPads, including the new OLED iPad mini.
The update expands Siri AI to additional languages—French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Siri AI can now recall past conversations, draw from more personal sources like Messages photos and Calendar attendees, and offers Excluded Apps settings and granular text selection. These features are available on iPhone 16 models and later, plus iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, but are not available in the EU or mainland China.
Other additions include AI suggestions in Messages for quick actions, Shared Albums caption editing in Photos, SynthID watermarking support, a new Home tab in Podcasts, and Simple Profiles in the Apple TV app. In the EU, an expanded App Tracking Transparency prompt is also introduced.
iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 can be downloaded over the air via Settings > General > Software Update. Apple also released iOS 26.7.2 with security updates.
