Google widens Quick Share AirDrop compatibility

Google expanded its Quick Share cross‑platform file‑sharing feature to a broader roster of Android phones, letting iPhone users AirDrop content directly to these devices. The update adds support for Samsung Galaxy S26 line, the new S25 Edge, and the Z Flip7 and Fold7 foldables, as well as Google’s Pixel 10 series and select models from HONOR, OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo, and Z TriFold.

Quick Share mirrors AirDrop’s ease: iPhone users set AirDrop visibility to “Everyone for 10 minutes,” while Android users enable the “Share with Apple devices” toggle. Once active, an Android device appears in the iPhone’s AirDrop list, and transfers proceed identically to native iOS exchanges. Non‑compatible Android phones generate a QR code for cloud‑based sharing, or Bluetooth fallback when network is unavailable.

The broadened compatibility nudges Android closer to a unified mobile sharing ecosystem, reducing reliance on third‑party apps and streamlining cross‑platform collaboration for consumers and enterprises. Google also hinted at upcoming support for the Motorola Razr Fold 2026, OPPO Find X8 series and HONOR Magic8 Pro, signaling continued expansion of the Quick Share‑AirDrop bridge for both personal and business use cases.
