OpenAI has launched "Health in ChatGPT" for U.S. users, allowing them to securely connect Apple Health and supported medical records. This feature aims to help users understand their health information in context, track changes, and have more personalized conversations.

Millions of users already turn to ChatGPT for health-related questions. This new integration addresses the challenge of scattered health data across various platforms by enabling ChatGPT, with user permission, to draw on connected Health information. This can assist in comparing lab results, summarizing appointment changes, or exploring the relationship between lifestyle factors and overall health, reducing the need for users to repeatedly provide the same details.

The experience is built with layered privacy and security safeguards, ensuring connected data is not used for training foundation models or ad targeting. Initially rolling out to logged-in U.S. users aged 18 and older on web and iOS across all plans, the feature is designed to support, not replace, professional medical care. Models like GPT-5.5 Instant and GPT-5.6 Sol are being improved to enhance reasoning, clarity, and safety in health conversations, with ongoing collaboration with physicians for evaluation and refinement.
