Anthropic's Claude AI is now connecting to Apple Health in the U.S., letting the chatbot pull fitness and health data directly from your iPhone. The beta feature rolled out this week for Claude Pro and Max subscribers, who can opt in to share movement, sleep, and activity metrics.

Once linked, Claude can summarize medical history, explain test results, and spot patterns across your fitness data. It's part of Anthropic's broader healthcare push, alongside new HealthEx and Function connectors. The company stresses the integration is 'private by design'—users control what's shared, and health data isn't used for model training.

This move follows OpenAI's ChatGPT Health launch just two weeks earlier, as AI assistants increasingly tap into personal health data. Both companies explicitly warn their tools aren't for diagnosis or a replacement for medical advice. The real test will be whether users trust AI companies with sensitive health information long-term.
