Apple has released the third public beta of macOS Tahoe 26.4 for testing, following last week's second beta. The update is available to public beta testers who signed up through Apple's beta site and can download it via the Software Update section in System Settings.

The update brings back the Compact tab layout in Safari for users who preferred the earlier interface option. It also introduces a new Charge Limit feature that lets Mac users set maximum charge levels between 80 and 100 percent, potentially extending battery longevity.

Apple silicon Mac users will now see warnings about apps still using Rosetta 2, as Apple phases out the translation layer after macOS 27. The update also marks the final macOS version supporting Intel-based Macs, with Apple actively removing remaining Intel-specific features as part of its transition to Apple silicon.
