Apple today released the second public beta of macOS Tahoe 26.4, tvOS 26.4, and watchOS 26.4 for testing purposes. The update comes a day after the developer beta and a week following the initial beta release. Public beta testers can download the updates through the Software Update section in their device settings after registering on Apple's beta testing site.

macOS Tahoe 26.4 introduces several notable changes, including the return of the Compact tab layout in Safari for users who preferred the earlier interface option. The update also adds a new Charge Limit feature that allows Mac users to set maximum charge levels between 80 and 100 percent. Additionally, Apple silicon Mac users will now receive warnings about apps still using Rosetta 2, as Apple phases out the translation layer after macOS 27.

This version marks the final macOS release supporting Intel-based Macs, with Apple actively removing remaining Intel-specific features. The company plans to test the update over the next several weeks ahead of a planned spring launch. While the current beta includes these core features, Apple may add additional elements like new emoji characters in future test versions as development continues.
