Apple Ramps Vapor Chamber Orders for Foldable iPhone

Apple has ramped up orders for vapor chamber cooling components destined for its upcoming foldable iPhone and 20th-anniversary iPhone models, according to Chinese leaker Fixed Focus Digital. The increased volume will first support the book-style iPhone Ultra, expected to debut in September, with Apple reportedly asking suppliers to produce approximately 10 million foldable iPhones in 2026, up from an earlier forecast of seven to eight million units.

The leaker previously claimed the foldable would feature "impressive" vapor chamber cooling, as Apple is "going all out" on thermal engineering to address challenges from the thinner internal structure. Apple introduced vapor chamber cooling with last year's iPhone 17 Pro, using deionized water to move heat away from the A19 Pro chip through the aluminum unibody frame.

Meanwhile, the 20th-anniversary iPhone in 2027 will reportedly feature an edge-to-edge display with glass curving around all four sides for a nearly borderless appearance, likely requiring advanced cooling. Apple is expected to offer two anniversary models in sizes similar to the forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, retaining the 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch dimensions.

Earlier this week, Fixed Focus Digital claimed Apple's "preferred approach" for the iPhone 20 is a return to glass, with manufacturing facilities already renovated for the project.
