Apple's Foldable iPhone Gets Advanced Cooling

Apple's first foldable iPhone, known as the "iPhone Ultra," will feature vapor chamber cooling technology despite its thin design, according to leaker Fixed Focus Digital. The device maintains its September 2026 launch timeline despite production challenges. This thermal solution marks a notable engineering achievement given the device's expected 4.5mm folded thickness and missing features like Face ID.

The iPhone Ultra will reportedly sacrifice several features found in the iPhone 17 Pro to achieve its ultra-thin profile. Despite these compromises, the device will incorporate vapor chamber cooling that delivers "quite impressive" thermal performance. This cooling system has previously delivered 40% better sustained performance in Apple's iPhone 17 Pro models.

Production difficulties persist, with yield problems at the pre-assembly stage. However, the September launch appears on track, with the device featuring a 7.8-inch inner display, A20 chip, and Touch ID replacing Face ID. The foldable iPhone is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models and carry a price tag around $2,000.
