Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 17e, a follow-up to the February 2025 iPhone 16e. Rumors suggest the new model will feature a 6.1-inch display and a single-lens rear camera, largely mirroring its predecessor. The most significant potential change is the replacement of the notch with a Dynamic Island, giving the budget phone a more modern appearance.

The device is expected to use a downclocked version of Apple's A19 chip, which debuted in the standard iPhone 17. While performance should improve over the A18, it likely won't match the flagship model. The 17e will probably retain 8GB of RAM and lack the new N1 chip for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to control costs, keeping it at $599.

A major upgrade could be MagSafe compatibility, which the iPhone 16e lacks. Adding the magnetic charging ring would enable faster 15W wireless charging and access to a vast ecosystem of accessories. The phone is also slated to adopt Apple's more efficient C1X modem for better connectivity, though camera hardware is expected to see no upgrades.
