Xiaomi invited GSMArena to Vietnam's Phú Quốc island to test the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's camera system in real-world conditions. The flagship phone features a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide, and standout 200MP telephoto with 3.2x-4.3x optical zoom that extends to 8x digitally. Our testing focused on capturing the island's vibrant tourist spots, from Grand World's Venetian-inspired canals to the dramatic Kiss Bridge.

Most images were shot in Leica Vibrant mode, which enhanced the flamboyant colors of Phú Quốc's European-themed architecture. The telephoto camera delivered exceptional detail at 8x zoom, though the 3.2x-4.3x range felt somewhat limited for certain compositions. We also tested the phone at Starfish Beach, capturing crystal-clear waters and the island's famous marine life. The main 50MP camera produced solid results but lacked the telephoto's striking impact.

The Photography Kit accessory transforms the phone into a point-and-shoot camera with case and grip, though we found the naked phone handled well thanks to its generous dimensions and intuitive UI. Overall, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra proves itself as a serious camera contender, particularly for those who value telephoto versatility over wide-angle flexibility.
