Samsung opened reservations for the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 ahead of its July 22 Galaxy Unpacked event. The reservation system follows the usual pattern: register now with no commitment, then decide whether to purchase when pre-orders go live.

Pre-sale incentives are leaner this year. The reservation credit dropped to a $30 credit for accessories at Samsung's store, down from $50 last year, and it only applies at checkout when buying one of the new foldables. Samsung advertises up to $1,230 in total savings, but that figure bundles trade-in values and promotional offers that fluctuate significantly by device and condition.

The lottery structure also changed. Instead of a single $5,000 gift card for one winner, Samsung will award ten $500 gift cards. Reservations remain open until pre-orders begin on July 22.

Samsung's reduced upfront incentives suggest either confidence in sustained foldable demand or pressure to protect margins on maturing form factors. The trade-in-dependent savings number obscures real out-of-pocket cost for most buyers, making the $30 accessory credit the only guaranteed immediate value.
