Samsung's Galaxy S25 family outsold the Galaxy S24 series by 5% during their release years, according to Counterpoint Research. The S25 Ultra model led the charge, selling 7% more than its S24 counterpart. Initially, S25 sales lagged behind S24 in February but matched them by March and surged ahead by December. The Ultra remained the top-selling device within Samsung's flagship lineup for both families, accounting for 46% of S25 sales versus 45% for S24. This success came despite the S25's base model having slightly lower sales (35%) compared to the S24 base (36%).

The sales trajectory highlights a strong recovery for the S25, particularly the Ultra, which saw mid-cycle increases in July and October. Both the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S25+ represented nearly identical shares (19%) of their respective family totals. This marks a significant achievement for Samsung's latest flagship lineup, demonstrating consumer preference shifted towards the newer model despite the initial lag.

The Galaxy S25 family's ability to surpass the established S24 series underscores Samsung's continued strength in the premium smartphone market, even as competition intensifies. The Ultra's dominance within the family and its Top 10 ranking for 2025 sales solidify its position as a key driver of Samsung's flagship success. This sales data provides a concrete measure of the S25's market reception compared to its predecessor.
