Samsung Galaxy A57 A37 Battery Cycle Drop Sparks Questions

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy A57 and A37 mid-range phones have surfaced in EU Energy Labels, revealing some notable changes from their predecessors. Both devices are rated A overall and feature impressive 52- and 53-hour battery life ratings respectively. They also boast IP68 water and dust resistance, an upgrade from the IP67 certification on earlier models.

However, the labels reveal a concerning change in battery longevity. Unlike their predecessors, which were rated for 2,000 full charging cycles before battery capacity dropped below 80%, the new A57 and A37 are now certified for only 1,200 cycles. This reduction mirrors similar changes seen in the recent Galaxy S26 flagship lineup. The phones received a C rating for repairability, with the A57 earning an A for drop resistance while the A37 managed only a B.

According to recent rumors, both devices are expected to launch next month. The EU Energy Labels provide consumers with standardized information about energy efficiency, durability, and repairability before official announcements. While the improved water resistance and battery life estimates are welcome upgrades, the reduced cycle count may disappoint users who expect long-term battery performance from their devices. This shift suggests Samsung may be prioritizing other features over battery longevity in its 2026 mid-range lineup.
