Chinese smartphone makers Oppo and vivo are developing handheld vlogging cameras to compete with DJI's popular Osmo Pocket series. The devices emerged from recent leaks suggesting both companies aim to capture market share in the growing creator economy segment. These moves follow vivo's initial plans revealed in February and now include Oppo joining the fray.

Both cameras reportedly pack 200MP sensors using 1/1.12" type hardware, strongly indicating Sony's Lytia 901 sensors. This substantial camera hardware suggests these won't be budget accessories but serious imaging tools. The flagship-level processing chips remain unspecified, but the sensor choice alone positions these as premium offerings targeting serious content creators.

Brand partnerships differentiate the offerings: Oppo may collaborate with Hasselblad while vivo partners with Zeiss for optics. Both devices integrate with their respective smartphone ecosystems, automatically syncing captured footage to phones for editing and sharing. This seamless workflow appeals to mobile-first creators who want professional tools without complex workflows.

The market is heating up fast. DJI's Osmo Pocket 3 dominated solo for years, but now faces the upcoming Osmo Pocket 4 and 4P alongside competitor entries like Insta360's Luna. What started as a niche product category now attracts major players chasing the creator market boom.
