NotebookLM has been renamed Gemini Notebook, continuing its mission to aid learning and research. Since its debut at Google I/O 2023 as Project Tailwind, the tool has been utilized by over 30 million people and 600,000 organizations.

The product remains a standalone research tool but will now integrate more deeply across the Google ecosystem, including the Gemini app and Google Search. A significant upgrade includes the rollout of a secure cloud computer for each notebook, enabling native code execution for complex data analysis grounded in user sources. This feature is initially available to Google AI Ultra users and Workspace business customers with specific access levels.

Future updates will bring Gemini Notebook capabilities directly into AI Mode in Search. The product is also accessible within the Gemini app, with full cross-app syncing. Google expressed gratitude to early adopters since Project Tailwind and looks forward to continued development.
