India's tablet market contracted by 21.7% in 2025, with shipments dropping to 4.4 million units according to IDC. Samsung maintained its lead with a 37.2% market share and 1.6 million shipments, but Lenovo emerged as the fastest-growing brand with a remarkable 28.9% year-over-year increase. Xiaomi also posted positive growth at 12.1%, reaching 576,000 shipments and a 12.8% market share.

Apple saw a 14% decline to 540,000 shipments, while Acer plummeted by 68.8% to 335,000 units. The fourth quarter showed similar patterns, with Samsung and Lenovo leading, but Apple dropping to third place. Notably, Whistel achieved explosive growth of 292.7% in Q4, though from a much smaller base.

IDC analyst Priyansh Tiwari noted that tablets are evolving beyond media consumption, with 5G integration, AI features, and detachable designs positioning them as productivity tools. As laptop prices rise, tablets are becoming practical alternatives for students and young professionals seeking cost-effective computing solutions.
