TCL unveiled its RGB-Mini LED TV lineup, beginning at $8,000 for the 85-inch RM9L model, with prices escalating to $30,000 for a colossal 115-inch unit. These displays mark the company’s first foray into RGB-Mini LED technology, which replaces traditional quantum dot layers with discrete red, green, and blue LEDs for richer color reproduction. The RM9L features 6,000 nits of peak brightness, Dolby Vision 2 support (via software update), and Bang & Olufsen audio, positioning it as a premium contender in high-end TVs.

TCL’s earlier SQD-Mini LED models, like the QM8L and QM7L, already impressed with anti-reflective panels and up to 4,000 dimming zones, but the RGB-Mini variant promises deeper color accuracy by eliminating color-filtering intermediaries. All new models run Google TV with Gemini AI integration, though specifics on Gemini’s utility remain unclear. Pre-orders for the QM7L (starting at $1,200) and RM9L are open, while the flagship QM8L is available now from $2,500 for 65-inch variants.

The shift to RGB-Mini LED aligns with industry trends toward micro-LED innovations, though TCL’s approach diverges by prioritizing cost-effective scalability. Competitors like Samsung and Sony have experimented with similar tech, but TCL’s aggressive pricing—coupled with Google TV Gemini—could disrupt mid-to-high-tier markets. However, the steep entry cost for larger sizes may limit mass adoption.

This move underscores TCL’s ambition to dominate premium displays, leveraging CES 2026 momentum. While the $8,000+ price tag targets enthusiasts, the tech’s long-term viability hinges on balancing performance with affordability. For now, the RM9L’s blend of brightness, color, and audio sets a benchmark for niche buyers.
