Samsung's Flex Titanium Display Reduces Creases on New Foldables

Samsung has introduced Flex Titanium display technology for its next-generation Galaxy foldables, debuting at the Unpacked event on July 22. Built on "seven generations of foldable innovation," the display features a titanium alloy film beneath the OLED panel that provides 20 times greater mechanical stiffness, plus a titanium plate with micro-patterned holes that eliminates air gaps while maintaining flexibility.

Kyung-Jin Yoo, EVP for Samsung Display, said the micro-patterned holes in the folding section deliver "flexibility with robust durability." The technology aims to produce a less noticeable crease compared to previous generations.

At CES earlier this year, Samsung showcased a "seamless" foldable display with an invisible crease, making older tech appear messy by comparison. A leaked video of the purported Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra also shows a very smooth screen with no visible crease, suggesting the new display delivers on its promise.
