Meta is developing an AI agent called Hatch, aimed at competing with OpenClaw and enabling agentic shopping on Instagram. The company has tested Hatch with simulated third-party services like DoorDash, Reddit, and Outlook, according to a report from The Information. Instagram users could use the agent to purchase items seen in Reels, building on Meta's recent move to allow creators to tag up to 30 products in videos. Mark Zuckerberg has prioritized making AI agents more accessible, stating they should understand user goals and work tirelessly to help achieve them. Meta may use Anthropic models for testing but plans to run agents on its new Muse Spark model, with potential launches near year-end. Meta also reportedly tried to hire OpenClaw's creator but failed; instead, it hired Moltbook founders.

The company's ambitions extend to its smart glasses lineup, with CFO Susan Li noting Ray-Ban Meta glasses could support agentic interactions, though such capabilities remain early-stage.
